a kinder, newer, nicer meringue skirt that is actually properly constructed

last year around this time, i made this:

and i loved it, even though i pretty much bollixed every single bit of its construction. wrong order, poor pressing, messy zipper, and i really f-ed the scallop hem and the pleats i carried over from the colette pastille. so i pretty much tossed the skirt into a dark hole and figured, hey, no worries, it’s a simple pencil skirt with a cool hem treatment (true) and i’ll whip another one up one free afternoon (false).

yes, this has been sitting almost a year. and all it needed was a final press and the scallops.

ta-da!

it is such a simple skirt to make properly that i am sure you can’t even tell from this photo HOW MUCH BETTER version #2 is.  it’s sleek, and chic, and well-constructed, and i did a grosgrain ribbon on the waistband instead of a facing, and i actually got the zipper in by machine, and i attached the scallops better and then even secured the hem facing with a catch-stitch so that it isn’t bulky.

i am so happy to have this out of area 51 and in to the closet that all i can say is:  i am sewasaurus rex!  hear me roar!
